Who We Are

The HLAA Chicago North Shore Chapter is a group of people with varying degrees of hearing loss. Some of us have had hearing loss most of our lives, and others have experienced gradual or sudden hearing loss. Our group includes individuals with hearing aids and cochlear implants and family and friends of people with hearing loss. We do not use American Sign Language as our primary mode of communication, and many of us have always lived in the hearing world.

We host monthly meetings about hearing loss issues. Attending our meetings will help you better understand what it means to live well with hearing loss. We provide information and education in a supportive environment.

Our presenters discuss various topics, such as assisted listening devices, communication access in a health care setting, and advocating for communication needs.

Attend a monthly meeting and learn how to live your best life with hearing loss.

Communication access is provided via a hearing loop and captions.
